Denis was a PhD student at the PAWS Lab between 2008 and 2013, working on Recommender Systems. He did 2 internships (Trinity College Dublin in 2009, and Telefonica i+d, Barcelona, 2011), obtained a best student paper award in UMAP 2011 with the paper "Walk the Talk" (http://dl.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=2021855.2021878) and currently works as a professor of Computer Science at PUC Chile.

Denis was a PhD student at the PAWS Lab between 2008 and 2013, working on Recommender Systems. He did 2 internships (Trinity College Dublin in 2009, and Telefonica i+d, Barcelona, 2011), obtained a best student paper award in UMAP 2011 with the paper "Walk the Talk" (http://dl.acm.org/citation.cfm?id=2021855.2021878) and currently works as a professor of Computer Science at PUC Chile.

Denis Parra, IS Ph.D. graduated in 2013, is Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (PUC Chile), ranked the number #1 university in Latin America in 2014 (http://www.topuniversities.com/university-rankings/latin-american-university-rankings/2014). Professor Parra in his first year working at PUC Chile taught one class at undergraduate level (Introduction to Computer Science) and two classes at graduate level (Data Mining and Recommender Systems). This year 2014, Professor Parra won the contest for the Invited talk at the Chilean Computer Society week in October, where he presented his work on Recommender Systems from the last 6 years. In addition, he was local organizer of the 24th ACM Hypertext Conference and co-organizer of the 1st international Workshop on Social Personalization, both held in Santiago, Chile during September.
